Top Holiday Activities in Simcoe County and Merry Christmas from The Walker Team

It has been a huge year and you really deserve a Christmas break. The Walker Team is all about family and friends, so we thought we'd give you some ideas to really get the most out of the holiday season this year.

Take a breath, grab a coffee and find about some great local activities you can do with your family over the holiday break.

Last Minute Christmas Shopping
If you are looking for something last minute and unique, check out the Friday Harbour Christmas Market, with a European flavour and lots of Christmas spirit to get you in the mood.  The market is open until the 23rd of December and is a fun and festive way to do your Christmas shopping.  It would be a fun night outing for all the family leading up to Christmas.

Christmas Lights
A great experience in the holiday season is to go see some Christmas lights.  While you can drive around your neighbourhood, which always has great light displays, an impressive experience is to go see the Magic of Lights at Springwater Provincial Park. It opens from 5pm until 10pm every night until January 1st and the cost starts at just $26 per standard car.  Stay cozy in your vehicle and let the whole family enjoy this festive experience.

Winter Getaway
Why not try a short getaway for the family or that special someone in your life?  Just an hour from Barrie, Blue Mountain Village has an amazing Holiday Magic program from November 18th to January 8th.  This includes Santa sightings, fireworks every Saturday night, shopping, restaurants, and the Holiday Light Trail winding through the Village, starting at dusk.  Don't forget full winter activities like skiing, skating and much more are also available.

**An incredible bonus right now from the Government is the Ontario Staycation Tax Credit.  You can stay anywhere in Ontario and claim 20% of eligible accommodation expenses up to $1000 for an individual and $2000 for a family. It's only available until December 31, 2022, so you want to be quick.

For the Kids
Simcoe County Museum has Winter Day Camps for the week starting January 3rd if you're looking for something to keep the kids busy.  Available for ages 6-12, times are Tuesday to Friday, 10am - 4pm.  Give yourself a break after the busy holiday season while the kids have fun. You can contact their office for more information.

Winterfest at Canada's Wonderland
A great night out for the whole family is Winterfest at Canada's Wonderland, Vaughn.  Featuring ice skating, live shows, and entertainment, plus millions of Christmas lights, your kids will love this experience.  Winterfest is open every night 5pm - 10pm until December 31st. Tickets start at $29 for adults and $19 for kids over 3.

Horseshoe Resort
Horseshoe Resort has events running for the holiday season or check out all that the resort has to offer with skiing, fat biking or snowshoeing.  Lots of activities to keep the whole family active and enjoying the holiday season.

Time with Family and Friends
Whatever you do over the holiday break, make the most of your time with family or friends. Whether it's building a snowman, finding a local hill and tobogganing down or just making cookies and enjoying a hot chocolate together. Every moment is memory-making and will set up your 2023 in the right direction.

From everyone at The Walker Team, we want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2023!
