
At The Walker Team, we love celebrating with our community! Canada Day may fall on a Tuesday this year, but that’s not stopping Simcoe County from celebrating all weekend long. From family festivals to lakeside fireworks, there’s plenty to check out between June 28 and July 1.
Whether you're planning a full weekend of festivities or just looking for something local to do on the day itself, we’ve rounded up some of the best ways to celebrate Canada Day in and around Simcoe County.
1. Canada Day in Barrie – Free 📍 Various Parks + Downtown Barrie
Barrie’s Canada Day On The Move brings family-friendly pop-up events to neighbourhood parks throughout the day, with live entertainment and activities for all ages. The night ends with a big fireworks show over Kempenfelt Bay.
2. Canada Day in Midland – Free
📍 Little Lake Park, Midland
Midland’s celebration begins with the beloved Civitan Parade along King Street at 10:30 AM and continues with live music, inflatables, games, face painting, and food trucks at Little Lake Park—a relaxed, family-friendly way to spend the day.
3. Canada Day at Blue Mountain Village – Free Admission (Activity Fees May Apply)
📍 Blue Mountain Village
From June 28 to July 1, enjoy live music on outdoor stages, street performers, and games for all ages. The Subaru Play Zone is great for kids, and the village buzzes with patios, pop-ups, and fireworks on Tuesday night at 10:15 PM.
4. Canada Day at Friday Harbour – Free Admission
📍 Friday Harbour, Innisfil
Celebrate over four festive days with DJ dance parties, local musicians, lawn games, and boardwalk entertainment. Fireworks close out the fun on Tuesday night at 10 PM over the marina.
5. Canada Day in Clearview Township – Free
📍 Creemore, Stayner & Duntroon
Enjoy parades, music, vendors, and small-town pride at multiple local events across the township. Don’t miss the Canada-themed geocaching challenge for added family fun!
6. Canada Day at Horseshoe Resort – Activities Priced Individually
📍 Horseshoe Valley, Oro-Medonte
Outdoor family fun, scenic chairlift rides, and live music await all weekend long. Cap it off with lawn games and kids' concerts at the Après Lawn.
7. Canada Day at Couchiching Beach Park, Orillia – Free
📍 Orillia Waterfront
Pancake breakfast, Children’s Village, live music at the Rotary Aqua Theatre, and fireworks over Lake Couchiching—it’s a classic community celebration with lakeside charm.
8. Canada Day in Bradford West Gwillimbury – Free

Enjoy an evening of live entertainment, food vendors, community recognition, and fireworks at 10 PM.

10. Ontario Family Fishing Week – Free (No Licence Required)
📍 Anywhere in Ontario
From June 29 to July 7, Ontario residents can fish licence-free—perfect for making relaxed outdoor memories.
